Types of Credit Cards

Credit Card Types

Revolving agreements: It is your choice to pay in full or make a partial or minimum payment. Examples: Department store credit, bank credit cards and gas station credit cards use this type of plan..

Charge agreement: This is a temporary charge with the full balance due. A business may set up this kind of account. Your utility companies give you this type of credit.

Installment agreement: This is a contract to repay a fixed amount in equal payments. A mortgage or car loan is granted on this basis.

Did You Know: Minimum Payments

Tiny minimum required payments. Credit card companies have reduced their minimum payments of late. Some credit cards only require a two percent minimum payment, down from five percent. This makes the offer sound more appealing, but it actually isn't. If you pay only the minimum, you'll pay even more interest for a longer period of time. Mathematically, if you are being charged an interest rate of 18 percent, and only make the minimum payment of two percent, you will be paying off almost none of the principal debt. If you pay only the minimum on your credit card, you will be paying for items you bought along time ago for a very long time.
